Run the Installer
Step 2 of 5 — download and run the guided installer on the Raspberry Pi.
The installer sets up everything the device needs in one guided script. You answer a few questions (your location name, the PepperShop API details, whether the relay is connected) and it handles the rest — packages, USB permissions, the systemd service, and a self-test.
Get the software onto the Pi
git clone https://github.com/ethandengs/bytegate-edge.git
cd bytegate-edgeStart the guided installer
chmod +x install_interactive.sh
./install_interactive.shFollow the prompts. It checks the system, asks for your configuration, installs everything, sets up the service, and finishes with a quick self-test.
Field tip
When it asks for the PepperShop API Base URL, enter the URL your PepperShop admin gave
you for this store — there's no sensible universal default here, so don't just press Enter
through it. The API Username defaults to AccessControl; press Enter to accept it
unless you were told otherwise. The API Password is required — paste the one from your
setup sheet. (This PepperShop API is separate from the ByteGate Cloud dashboard — registering
the device there is a later step in this guide.)
